"Try a Slice of QVCC" at College's Open House (1/18/12)
An open house highlighting the strong faculty-student relationships at Quinebaug Valley Community College will be held Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 6 to 8 pm at both the Danielson campus and Willimantic Center.
The “Try a Slice of QVCC” open house offers prospective students the opportunity to learn about programs and courses, meet students and faculty, get information about financial aid and scholarships, and attend a Q&A session with a panel of students. The $20 application fee will be waived for anyone who applies for admission that night. And yes – pizza will be served.
At QVCC a strong faculty-student relationship is the key ingredient to a successful college experience. It has been shown that secure student-teacher relationships can lead to greater knowledge, higher test scores and greater academic motivation. Members of the student panels will be sharing their experiences and stories of success.
At the Danielson open house, the following students will be on the panel: Bre Boyden ’09, an engineering major who graduated from Cornell University in 2011 and is a research engineer at Foster Corporation in Putnam; John Dalterio, a current student studying photography who is transferring to the Art Institute of Boston in the fall; and Kevin Davis ’12, a liberal arts and sciences graduate currently majoring in political science at the University of Connecticut.
The Willimantic open house will feature the following students: Claudia Dufour, a current student majoring in liberal arts and sciences who also participates in the dual enrollment program between QVCC and Eastern Connecticut State University where she will be transferring; Kevin Hernandez ’11 a liberal arts and sciences graduate who is a student at UConn; and Hailey Quercia ’12, a chemistry/biology major at Connecticut College.
In the event of inclement weather, the open house will be held the following week on Feb. 13. For more information please contact the Enrollment Services Office at 860-412-7220 in Danielson and 860-423-1824 in Willimantic.
