QVCC Will Offer New Credit Programs (2/27/13)
Quinebaug Valley Community College has announced that three new credit programs will be available to students this fall: an associate’s degree in Business Administration: Health Care Management; an associate’s degree in Computer Services: Web Development Option; and a certificate in Web Design.
The Health Care Management degree consists of a combination of health care and business courses that provide the skills necessary to meet the challenges of today’s health care system. Graduates will be prepared for entry level management positions in various health care facilities. It also offers a career pathway for students who have earned certificates in Medical Office Skills, HIMT: Medical Coding, Phlebotomy, as well as accounting and management. Courses include economics, management, accounting, medical terminology, medical assisting, and insurance and billing. The Web Development Option of the Computer Services degree will give students a solid background in server side integration and webmaster tasks that are needed to develop and maintain web sites. This technology-focused program includes topics such as web page development, server side programming, data backup and information security practices. Courses include database concepts, Internet programming and web design. For more information contact Program Coordinator Jan Hall at email@example.com
The focus of the Web Design certificate is on content creation instead of programming. A blend of artistic and technical computer-based skills is critical for anyone seeking work as a web page designer. This certificate provides an excellent opportunity for both tech students and emerging artists to broaden their career path. Courses include computer graphics, graphic design, web page design, drawing, color theory and animation. Jan Hall is also the program coordinator and can be contacted at firstname.lastname@example.org
